Florida joins National Day of Protest
All 50 states to hold organized protests

This Saturday, November 15, 2008, there will be a simultaneous national protest to bring to the forefront the injustice during the recent general elections concerning gay marriage.

On Tuesday, November 4, the states of Florida, California and Arizona adopted measures that would prohibit gay marriage, and in the case of California, take away the rights that gays already enjoyed. Californians have been protesting nonstop since their constitutional amendment passed.

Florida’s legislation, “marriage protection” Amendment 2, changes the Florida state constitution to specify marriage, domestic partnerships, or any sort of legal recognition of relationships may only be between one man and one woman.

The protests, which take place together at 1:30 p.m. EST (10:30 a.m. PST), will be held on various city halls throughout the country.

Join the Impact, the organizers of this protest, say that protests have been organized in all 50 states.  In South Florida, protests will be staged at the city hall steps in Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach, and Lake Worth.
